The pandemic has really shown us how much women have had to cope with through home schooling, working from home and juggling day-to-day life. Today we’re celebrating every single woman we know!
It’s got us thinking about Scottish women that inspire us and the remarkable things they have done to influence the next generation.
For International Women’s Day, we’ve picked five women that we’re inspired by. We could spend all day celebrating amazing women – especially Scottish ones!
Ellen broke the world record for the fastest solo circumnavigation around the globe on a boat. Who said men were stronger than women!? Not only is she a badass when it comes to sailing, but she launched a foundation that focuses on Circular Economy. Which, if you don’t know, is a much less wasteful way of living that helps business, the environment and the community.
She became famous for her singer/songwriting skills, but we’re equally as impressed by her charity work.
Annie’s #CirclesofChange campaign has been launched to support women and girls across the world.
A Grammy Award winning classical violinist, Nicola has achieved a sensational career. Nicola is one of the most sought-after musicians of her generation, and with her dedicated work in music education, we hope to see more female violinists breaking that glass ceiling in the future.
By the time she was 21, Alice had co-founded Social Bite, a café and shop that donates all of its profits to social causes. Now Alice is a motivational speaker as well as a coach and mentor. Got a feeling that this philanthropist will be inspiring many to follow in her footsteps – and we’re so lucky that we’ve got her here in Scotland!
Katherine is Great Britain’s most decorated female Olympian. We’re particularly inspired by the strength and dedication that she showed in all her rowing disciples for over twenty years! For us, we want to see more woman like Katherine in the media to show younger generations of women what’s really possible!
